Treatment of Diabetes

Keeping blood sugar levels under strict control is very important for diabetic patients. If we talk about fasting blood sugar level then it should be less than 130 Mg/Dl and postprandial blood sugar level should be less than 180 mg/Dl and HBA1C level indicates that three months control of blood sugar is less than 7 needed.

Exercise Regularly –

Diabetics should do 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week and moderate-intensity aerobic activities include dancing, swimming, brisk walking, and cycling. So you can pick one from there and do them for at least 150 minutes per week.

Get Regular Health Check-ups and Tests –

Patients with diabetes should have their fasting blood sugar and postprandial blood sugar checked regularly, in addition to having HbA1c levels tested every 3 to 6 months. Diet Management –

Therefore diabetic patients should keep their total caloric intake constant and controlled per day and male diabetics should take 30 calories per kg per day and female patients should take 25 calories per kg per day. Apart from this, you should include high fiber foods in your diet and examples of high fiber foods and salads, green leafy vegetables. In addition, you should restrict your intake of carbohydrates especially refined sugars like flour and sugar. You should turn them off completely.

Apart from these, red meat found in pork and mutton should also be stopped. Instead, you can consume plant-based protein found in pulses. And you can also have seafood-based proteins like fish and prawns twice a week. Among the fats, you should avoid trans fats and saturated fats, and trans fats are found in fried foods. Fried foods are sources of trans fats which are very dangerous and sources of saturated fats are ghee, butter and you should restrict their intake too.

Instead, you should include fruits in your diet and diabetic patients can eat all kinds of freshly cut fruits and if we talk about fruit consumption then diabetic patients can eat 3-4 fruits per day.

Never Miss a Dose of Medicine –

Medicines, as prescribed by the doctor, should be taken in the recommended dosage and at the proper time and also in a proper manner, you must remember this and you should never stop any medicine without consulting your doctor Because it can be very harmful to you.

Manage Your Weight –

You also have to manage your weight properly and the ideal BMI range for Indians is between 18.5-22.9. So, you should try to keep your BMI in between this range i.e. between 18.5-22.9.

Avoid Stress –

You manage stress in your life properly as increased stress can also increase the blood sugar level. You must remember this. At least 7 hours of sleep is very important and good sleep also reduces stress and stress level is under control then your blood sugar level will also be under control and will be close to a normal level.

Manage Associated Comorbidities –

Therefore, if you have high blood pressure your blood pressure level should be less than 130/90 mmHg and for this, you should follow lifestyle measures, dietary management, and if any medications are also prescribed, then you should take them at the right time. If you are a heart attack patient, you have had a previous heart attack or have had a stroke, then if your doctor has prescribed aspirin, clopidogrel, or statins, then you should take them regularly.
